The Center of Your Being

 

Always we hope that someone else has the answer,

some other place will be better,

some other time it will all turn out.

This is it.

No one else has the answer.

No other place will be better.

And it has already turned out.

At the center of your being you have the answers.

And you know what you want.

There is no need to run outside for better seeing,

nor to peer from the window.

Rather abide at the center of your being.

For the more you leave it,

the less you know.

Search your heart and see that

the way to do is to be.

Wandering Mind

Can you coax your mind from its wandering

and keep to the original oneness?

Can you let your body become

supple as a newborn child's?

Can you cleanse your inner vision

until you see nothing but the light?

Can you love people and lead them

without imposing your will?

Can you deal with the most vital matters

by letting events take their course?

Can you step back from you own mind

and thus understand all things?

Giving birth and nourishing,

having without possessing,

acting with no expectations,

leading and not trying to control:

this is the supreme virtue.

Todos reconhecem a beleza...

... apenas devido à fealdade.

Todos reconhecem a virtude...

... só pela falta do correcto.

Por os opostos nascerem ligados:

O dificil e o facil... completam-se.

O longo e o curto comparam-se.

O alto e o baixo, suportam-se.

O som e o silencio harmonizam-se.

O antes e o depois... sucedem-se.

Assim, o sábio abraça, sem aderir,

Sendo exemplo e sem argumentar.

Por muito o rodeie... não interfere:

Do que alcança não procura crédito,

nem o que cria reclama, como seu.

Então...

Já não se identifica com as perdas.
